Blog Tip Tuesday: How to Collab with Big Time Bloggers

how to collab with big time bloggersI love collaborating. I find it extremely rewarding for all parties involved. You’re flattering other women by asking to work with them and empowering your readers through providing them with inspirational work. After all, you only make it to the top from lifts along the way, so why not take the leap and ask to collab with big time bloggers?

While a single email asking to collab is a nice gesture and an obvious route to take, it may not be the one that works. The big time bloggers get thousands of emails a day so getting them to open an email from someone they’ve never heard of before is like finding a needle in a haystack.

Luckily, there are ways to collab with big time bloggers that actually work…

collab with big time bloggers

Yes, go be an advocate for a blog aside from your own. Big time bloggers will be flattered and may even share the article to their followers, (like Lauryn from TSC did for me), which will drive traffic and new loyal readers to your site. Woohoo!

Plus it’s cool to be kind and people don’t forget that, especially if you feature them more than once.

how to ask bloggers for an interview

I do this every week in my Style File Friday series and podcast, (coming soon!). This is a great approach to work with the big timers because any publicity for them is good publicity. It also gives you a chance to really pick their brains but also provide great insight for your readers.

You build your credibility when you have the big leagues backing you. You can say something like, The Skinny Confidential’s Secret to Success” as an email or blog post title, which will entice people to open your email or read your post.

benefits of cold emails

This is the most sincere and attention catching way to collab with a big time blogger: compliments. I often compliment the person first before I ask for something.

People are more likely to say yes if you cushion them with compliments first, but don’t just say something to say something. Really think specifically about why you like this person and how he/she has inspired you, then share it with them. How do you think I got all those bloggers to participate in my eGuide, Build Your Own Style Blog?

how to get positive results

Say your fave blogger posted a DIY on ripped jeans, you try it out yourself, make your own tutorial, and include that blogger as the OG and get an overwhelming positive response from your readers. You can share these stats with said blogger, which could open a line of communication for a future creative collaboration.

Have you tried any of these techniques? How’d they work for you? Tell me in the comments below!

xx
