Faux Fur Coats I Would Have Worn to Fashion Week

forever 21 blogger

So I didn’t go to fashion week this season… again. This is partly because I have a full-time day job (which makes doing anything other than your job virtually impossible), partly because I wasn’t feelin’ it, and partly because I rather hustle on new projects (coming soon) that are going to make me money than sit through a fashion show 10,000 other bloggers are covering.

That’s not to say I wouldn’t love to go to NYFW, of course I would, but this time I chose to spend my time elsewhere. Perhaps next season I’ll join the frenzy but until then I’ve put together my favorite faux fur coats I would have worn to fashion week…

Background info: I made Pat take about 50 pictures before we could get in our Uber. I also only liked 3 out of the 50 pictures we took. #bloggerprobz

Why it works: This whole look is a modern spin off Penny in Almost Famous (seems to be my go-to style lately). I wear these Ray Ban sunglasses with just about every outfit which adds a little 70s element that I love. The coat is the perfect amount of oversize where it still looks cozy but I’m not swimming in it.

Background info: I was secretly sweating here because it was a warm day (the new norm for February) but I was trying to play it off like it wasn’t.

Why it works: … again with the 70s vibes. There’s so much texture going on it keeps the outfit interesting but not overwhelming. The colors are also relatively muted so I could get funky with different fabrics.

Background info: I was at my mom’s here and there is literally no where to take a good picture so I forced Patricio to snap me in the corner of the doorway – very tight squeeze, hence the reason my shoes are barely in the shot.

Why it works: I mean, you can’t go wrong with an all black look and statement jacket. I even added gold earrings to dress it up a bit.

Background info: I was in my hometown about to walk into a cigar bar which would later make me deathly ill to the point where I had to leave Patricio’s birthday dinner before it was even served. Worst girlfriend ever, I know.

Why it works: At this point I could have dressed the whole cast of That 70’s Show, don’t you think? Under my leopard coat was a grey bell sleeve top. That in combination with white boots was very Nancy Sinatra. I also went with a lighter girlfriend jean to keep with my beloved 70’s theme. This is hands down, one of my favorite outfits I’ve ever put together.

Background info: This was right before the sun was about to set so me and Riri (aka my insta-photographer) ran outside for a quick shot. It was always freezing and I was dressed totally inappropriately.

Why it works: Like the others, this faux fur jacket is a statement piece that speaks for itself. Because it’s a shorter bomber you have to either wear a bodysuit or tuck your shirt in all the way around so you don’t look sloppy with a tail hanging out. The shoes also make a statement so you want to go with a cropped skinny jean to show them off, which is exactly what I did.

Did you go to fashion week? Have you ever been to fashion week? Tell me about it in the comments below.

I’ve never been to Fashion Week. I have mixed feelings about it. On the one hand I feel curious about it because it looks so glamorous but on the other hand I’m not sure I’d like it. I’m not a big fan of Fashion Week outfits because even though many people get it right, some other attendants look like they are at a Carnival…I think you can make a statement with your outfit without being a laughing stock.

Anyways, you have an impressive collection of faux fur coats. My favorite is the leopard print 🙂
