How to Make Your Blog Authentic

how to make your blog authentic

In order to be authentic in the saturated market of blogging, ya gotta’ keep it real. There’s no use masking your true self because eventually it will come out. People will sense your false reality and see right through you. Authenticity is hard to come by, nowadays. Many bloggers are in to win it alone and they’ll do just about anything to get to the top. Don’t take the easy route, hang in there and make your blog authentic one step at a time.

don’t buy followers

Buying Instagram followers is definitely not how to make your blog authentic. People will know, whether you like it or not. It’s obvious when you have 20K followers but only 100 likes on your pictures and your follower list consists of @ashley437626 and @bhdg36858 usernames. Not only is buying followers totally lame, but it sucks the credibility out of your brand, which means people won’t be as likely to trust you.

There is no shortcut to Instagram success. Engage with your audience and your community, post high quality photos, and post them at the right time and you’ll grow and stay authentic.

be honest

If you can’t afford Jimmy Choos, say it! I mean you don’t have to come out and say “Hi my name is Brittany and I’m poor”, but you can say something like “These Steve Maddens are a great alternative to the Jimmy Choo bow heel” or whatever. People love honesty. Honesty = authenticity. Some bloggers have even turned pro from blogging about budget friendly finds, so now they can actually afford the real deal Jimmy Choos.

Whatever you’re going through, there is someone out there going through the same thing. Speaking out about it will make you more relatable to your audience. Period.

use your voice

Your voice and perspective is different from anyone else’s so it’s time you start using it! And your voice is what ultimately attracts or repels people to/from your blog. The only way you will ever be able to make your blog authentic is by being you.

Easier said than done, I know, but after you’ve been blogging for some time you’ll come into your own and find your voice. But remember everyone will take your message differently and not everyone is going to love you. But the people that do love you will love you forever.

There is only one you and that alone is enough to make your blog authentic.

stick to a theme

While it may seem like every “theme” has been taken, there are still ways to make your blog totally authentic to you. Will you only use colorful backgrounds for your photos? Will you only take pictures of your shoes?

Find your thing, your theme, and stick to it. People like predictable, they like knowing what they can expect from you and picking a theme will not only do that but it will make you easily recognized any time your readers see your photos.

Whatever your theme, make it your own. No one wants to see a carbon copy of someone else.
