Why Jealousy Isn’t Always a Bad Thing

jealousy quotesI recently found myself raging with jealousy over a fellow blogger. So, my first reaction was to of course point out that person’s flaws. Then I went on to compare myself and picked out reasons why I was better than that person. Ah, jealousy, such a hard pill to swallow.

So after I smack talked my way into feeling good about myself I stumbled across Mastin Kipp’s vlog on jealousy. Wait a second Mastin Kipp, The Mastin Kipp, gets jealous too?!? Ok, I’m feelin’ better already.

Basically, Mastin says that jealousy is recognizing others as having a life you have the potential to have, and to turn those you’re jealous of into mentors. Awesome. Love it. But I want to dig deeper…

What if these people are just not willing to have you jump aboard their ship to success? What if you just can’t reach them, like physically you cannot get a hold of those people to get all their dirty little secrets? (Find out my dirty little secrets to successful blogging HERE!)

Well you do what any successful person does… you stalk them. Just kidding, kind of.

You find your fuel, in this case jealousy, and turn it into something amazing. Let jealousy drive you to become the best in your field. You imitate them in a way that is authentic to you and your goals. Study their steps to success and try incorporating some of those techniques into your own life. Instead of working harder, work smarter. Work with people in your industry instead of against them. After all, team work makes the dream work.

When you use your negative energy to fuel something positive, the results will blow your mind. You’ll find that you have exceeded your expectations. You might even have the person you were jealous of come crawling to you for advice. ::wink wink::

And that, my friends, is why being jealous isn’t always a bad thing.

Have you ever been jealous? Don’t be shy, tell me in the comments below.

xx
