The Fastest Way to Get a Six Pack

fitness blogger workoutNext to getting asked about my hair (surprisingly), I’m most frequently asked about my workout regime. If you follow me on Snapchat (un: notanothrblonde) you’ll see me post a daily workout picture saying “BBG week 5 day 3” or something along those lines. Most of you know by now what BBG but if you don’t… Google it.

(Business side note: One thing Kayla, founder of the Bikini Body Guide, doesn’t offer is an affiliate program which is unfortunate because I think it is a huge loss for her most loyal fans and their friends. Why not reward your biggest advocates with a 5-10% affiliate program? I bet she’d get a lot more sales if she did. You all know how passionate I am about affiliate links so that’s the reason I won’t link her guides here.)

best ab workouts

Anyway, like most other busy side hustlers, I don’t have time to go to the gym every day for hours at a time, because I’m doing other things like working on my blog, collaborations, reading, etc. And so the Bikini Body Guide is the best and fastest way to get, you guessed it, a bikini body.

All you need to do is set aside 28 minutes a day, 3 times a week. I saw results in 1 week and after 2 weeks I was on an upward spiral to something I was beginning to think was a myth: abs.

Another thing – on my “days off” from BBG, I use the Train with Tanya app and pick a random workout. These workouts are typically 16-20 minutes and they work different muscle groups than the BBG so that way I don’t hit a plateau.

You’re probably thinking, ‘Great where do I sign up?!’. Well, hold on speedy we’re not done just yet…

The key to the Bikini Body Guide is to live in accordance with a healthy lifestyle. If you’re doing these workouts then housing cheesesteaks, fries, and cupcakes after, you won’t notice much.

The same goes for your mental health, too. If you’re working out with a negative attitude you’ll be lethargic and you most likely won’t complete the full daily workout, let alone the entire 12-week program.

the ab diet

The “ab diet” I use doubles as my everyday diet. I call it the “ab diet” because when I’m eating this way, my abs are at their prime. So what is it?

Don’t eat shit. Period.

I also don’t eat meat aside from fish but I know people who eat chicken who look better than me so I don’t think cutting meat out is a huge factor to getting abs. I will say that when I just eat fish, fruits, and veggies, I look great and I feel great. It’s a really simple concept and anyone who tries to complicate it by carb counting or restricting you to nuts only or low sugar or whatever is full of crap.

I mean, I’m no nutritionist but it seems logical to me that when you eat whole foods from the ground and fish/meat that is low in fat and hasn’t been pumped with hormones, your body is going to do well. If you want more specifics here’s my “ab diet” broken down meal by meal:

Breakfast: 1-2 egg omelet with spinach and soy cheese topped with sea salt and 1/2 avocado and grits

Snack (lately): raspberries and/or blueberries (I usually will have some sort of fruit as my morning snack)

Lunch (lately): celery sticks, carrot sticks, cucumbers and hummus

Snack (lately): graze box (peanut butter and jelly is my fave right now) OR sundried tomato rice crisps

Dinner: salmon with cajun or lemon, pepper, and capers and broccoli (or any veggie) OR teriyaki tuna with veggie and rice OR veggie chili OR some other easy fish and veggie combo

bonus tips

  • Workout first thing in the morning – speeds up your metabolism, jumpstarts your day
  • Meditate after your workout for 5-10 minutes – all your endorphins (happy chemicals) will be pumping which is the perfect time to rewire your mind for a positive day
  • Eat 5-6 small meals throughout the day – speeds up your metabolism and prevents you from overeating
  • Drink 2 liters of water – this is the approximate amount for an active female, water also curbs your appetite
  • Think of how good you’ll feel – looks aren’t everything but when we look good we feel good and vice versa

The Kayla BBG is intense and challenging at times with a good mix of burpees, push-ups, jump squats, and sit up twists. But I promise you it’s worth it!

What workout routine do you do? Tell me in the comments because I’m always looking to switch it up!

Thanks for sharing this! I’m always looking for ways to improve my lifestyle. Truth is I don’t workout much and I really should do it but I get lazy…I do Pilates once a week and I love it, I find it more beneficial than other types of workout and I always get sore muscles! Which I think is a great sign, right? I used to so zumba which I also like but I had to quit when I moved because the gym is too far away.
I was really surprised to read that you eat soy cheese, I’ve never heard it before! I switched to soy milk a couple years ago and I’ve also tried soy yogurt (I don’t really like the taste though) but there’s no substitute for cheese here. However, I’m not sure I’m ready to give up cheese, I love it too much!

Working out was a HUGE game changer for me, it helped me physically and mentally so I highly recommend it. I just got into Pilates recently and I love it, too. Now I don’t even realize I’m eating soy cheese, it all tastes the same to me! You should try coconut or almond milk, too much soy in your system isn’t the best so I will drink coconut milk instead of soy milk. 🙂

Thanks for your comment Christina, it was so sweet of you to take the time to write that. Please stay in touch! xx

You look great Brittany! I think abs are also highly influenced by genetics. I feel like my abs are at their peak when I eat super clean (and I can’t even get them Vic. Secret level lol) but that requires me to eat super clean, which in turn drops my weight. After a few experiments, I decided that I can forgo the 6 pack to maintain a healthy weight… washboard abs are good enough! Keep killin it though!

Haha thanks Susan, and I totally agree about the eating clean part. It is sooo hard! I think if I was stricter with my diet I wouldn’t hit plateaus so much. I love cupcakes too much though. xx

Every morning during the work days I do 45 to 55 minutes at the gym. What I’m not so good at is with diet. Today I had chicken and veggies for lunch, but I ate almost a pizza for dinner… I guess that when it’s so cold, I need calories. But it’s automatic, as soon as temperatures go high, I start eating salad all the time 🙂

How would you dress for a cold winter date? Check out my latest post for the answer 🙂

The same thing happens to me. As long as we’re not complaining about why we’re not seeing better results it doesn’t matter, right? I agree, I also eat much cleaner during the warmer weather. Thanks for your comment Maria. Hope you’re super well. Chat soon doll. xx

You look incredible and every time I see you Insta story or snapchat I’m just like “GO BRITTANY!” I need to get back on my grind for both blogging and healthy eating/exercise. This has helped immensely if not for the tips but just the motivation that I need to get my ass in gear.
